Kevin McCune made a run at his second career major title in last week’s PBA Players Championship. This week, the son and grandson of PBA Tour champions is making another run in perhaps the PBA’s most historic venue.

McCune leads the PBA Tournament of Champions powered by 1800 Tequila at AMF Riviera Lanes through two six-game qualifying rounds in Fairlawn, Ohio. Complete standings are available here.

In the regular season finale, players are competing for berths in the PBA Playoffs and PBA Tour Finals

All qualifying rounds and match play rounds Tuesday through Thursday will be livestreamed on BowlTV.

On Friday night, Bill O’Neill, Sean Rash, George Branham III and Dave Schroeder will be inducted into the PBA Hall of Fame. The ceremony will be free to watch on BowlTV.

The TOC’s two-part stepladder finals includes a prelims round Saturday at 5 p.m. Eastern time on FS1 and the championship round Sunday at 3 p.m. ET on FOX.

McCune averaged 245 to net a total pinfall of 2,940 (+540) for his 12 games on Tuesday. He switched from Hammer to Roto Grip staff in the offseason and said he has gotten used to the new equipment, which is leading to more confidence with his ball selection.

“I've been seeing the lane pretty well and knowing which ball to go to better than I have been,” McCune said. “I need to keep throwing the ball well and try not to over-complicate anything. I know that if I get to the pocket, I'm going to strike.”

“Riviera is definitely a very historic place, and it's really cool,” McCune added. “Hopefully I can keep bowling well here. I mean, my dad and grandpa never won here, so it'd be pretty awesome to win here.”

A pair of former TOC champions in Dom Barrett (+503) and Jesper Svensson (+477) are in second and third place, respectively. Matt Zweig (+401) and AJ Johnson (+400) round out the top five after Tuesday's action.

EJ Tackett (+399), seeking to become the second player to win three major championships in a single season, sits in sixth place.

Jason Belmonte, the lone player to have won three majors in a single season, ranks outside the current cutline (held by Shawn Maldonado at +291) after two rounds.

But Belmonte is no stranger to comebacks in the TOC — when he won his record-setting fourth TOC title over Tackett in 2023, Belmonte sat in 51st place through two rounds.

The 2010-11 TOC champion, “Major” Mika Koivuniemi sits in 14th place through two rounds, while last week’s PBA Players Championship winner Ethan Fiore ranks 16th.

The top 24 players after the third qualifying round on Wednesday will advance to round-robin match play, contested across Wednesday evening through Thursday.

Nine players will qualify for the two-part championship round.

The prelims round, a stepladder featuring the fifth through ninth qualifiers, will air live Saturday, April 19 at 5 p.m. ET on FS1.

The winner will meet the top four qualifiers in Sunday’s championship round, airing live on FOX at 3 p.m. ET.

Tickets to watch the prelims and championship rounds are available to purchase here.
