Don Johnson won his second consecutive Brunswick World Open title when he eliminated two Brooklynites from the finals of the $85,000 tournament in surburban Glendale Heights. In the championship game, Johnson defeated 21-year-old Mark Roth for the title, 207-181, after Roth had worked himself into the lead at the end of 56 grueling games of qualifying and match game play. The World Open attracted 15 foreign entries from Japan, Venezuela, England, Finland, W. Germany and Canada. Brunswick officials conducted eliminations in each country, and Masao Inoue, Tokyo, rewarded his followers with a 55th-place finish.
